8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. — Hebrews 1:8
There are four different kinds of Angels
- Ministering Angels
- Worship Angels
- Warring Angels
- Messenger Angels
Ministering Angels
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? — Hebrews 1:14
10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. — Matthew 18:10
7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. — Psalms 34:7
The first kind of angel is a messenger angel they are also known as guardian angels. They are given to every individual that lives on the earth from birth. The live among us and minister for us according to the will of God. They look like human (Hebrews 13:2) so have entertained angels not knowing that it was angels. Gabriel may the archangel of these kinds of angels.
Worshipping Angels
The second kind of angel is the worshipping angels. Cherubim and Seraphim are members of the worshipping angels.
Seraphims
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. — Isaiah 6:1-7
The word “serphim” is the Hebrew word waraph which means fiery serpent. The serphims are fiery angels with six wings that the use to cover their face with or to fly with. Their main function is to worship God. They declare the glory and the works of the Lord.
Cherubims
6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. 9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, — Revelation 4:6-9
1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne 14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. 15 And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar. — Ezekiel 10:1,14-15
The cherubims are another group of worshipping angels they also have six wings. Some cherubims have one face and some have four faces on one body. The ones with one face are calling living creatures. There were for living creatures, who represent the God’s animate creation. One had the face of a man, one had the face of a lion, one had the face of calf, the last one had the face of eagle. Satan was Lucifer the anointed cherub before he fell.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. — Ezekiel 28:14
He was the anointed cherub that covered. Lucifer may have been the reptilian cherub. The division of animate creatures are represented in the cherubims, but the reptiles do not seem to be represented. He is represented by two reptiles in scripture, a serpent and a dragon.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. — Revelation 12:9
Lucifer was the archangel of the worshipping angels before he fell and became Satan the devil.
Warring Angels
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, — Revelations 12:7
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. — Daniel 10:13
Michael is the archangel of the warrior angels. The warring angels are sent to war against the forces of darkness which are the fallen angels. They are sometimes sent to fight against evil men.
35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. — 2 Kings 19:35
Messengers Angels
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. 15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. 18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. — Luke 1:13-19
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. —Luke 1:26-38
Gabriel is the archangels of the messenger angels. Their main purpose related to the unfolding of the purposes of God and they are instrumental in closing the era of time and opening the dawning of another.
