The First Resurrection: The dead in CHRIST
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: — 1 Thessalonians 4:16
The first resurrection includes the first three resurrections everyone who participates in those three which makes up the first will not suffer the second death which is the lake of fire. The first part of the first resurrection happens as Jesus will descend from the third heaven to the earth’s atmosphere. He will be accompanied by His angels and all the saints who have gone to heaven at the time and He will raise their bodies in a new form like unto His body.
The Second Resurrection: The Catching up of the Church on Earth
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. — 1 Thessalonians 4:17
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. — 1 Corinthians 15:50-53
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. — Luke 17:34-37
The second resurrection or the second event of the first resurrection is was has been termed the rapture. It happens after all that Jesus has descended from the third heavens to the earth’s atmosphere and has raised the bodies of all the dead in Christ. It happens in the twinkle of an eye. Half of the Christians will be taken at the event called the rapture. One will be left and the other taken. It will happen as a flash of lightning.
24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. — Luke 17:24
The events we call the first and second resurrection which are part of the same resurrection happens before what is called the great tribulation which is a time of the manifestation of the wrath of God being poured out on the earth.
The Third Resurrection: The Resurrection of the Two Witnesses
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man wiill hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. 6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smiten the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. 7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. — Revelation 11:3-12
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: — Hebrews 9:27
It is appointed to every human being to die once and then after that judgment. Every human being has two appointments, death and judgment. There have only to two humans who did not see death they are Enoch and Elijah. Both of them will be sent to the earth to witness to the earth after the catching away of the saints. It will be during the time of the antichrist and great tribulation. They will preach for twelve hundred and sixty days or three and a half years. Afterwards they will be killed and their dead bodies will lie the streets for the whole world to see three and a half days because no one will bury their bodies. After the three and a half days the Lord will resurrect their physical bodies and whole world will see it. All this will happen after the rapture, but before the end of tribulation.
The Fourth Resurrection: The Great White Judgment and Eternal Judgment
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. — Revelation 20:11-15
The fourth resurrection is the final resurrection of all who do not have their names written in the book of life. They are cast into the lake of fire. This the eternal judgment.
