6\u00a0And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;<\/em> 7\u00a0And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.<\/em> 8\u00a0I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.<\/em> — Mark 1:6-8<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b16\u00a0John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:<\/em> — Luke 3:16<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b11\u00a0I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:<\/em> — Matthew 3:11<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In these three accounts the word “with” is the Greek word en which means in. So John said “I indeed baptize you in water, but He shall baptize in the Holy Spirit”. When anyone says that they were baptized with water they really mean they were baptized in water. In the same way when anyone says they were baptized with the Holy Spirit they really mean they were baptized in the Holy Spirit. When we are born again the Holy Spirit comes in us and when we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit we are brought into the Spirit and His realm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.<\/em> 2\u00a0And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where\u00a0they were sitting.<\/em> 3\u00a0And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.<\/em> 4\u00a0And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them\u00a0utteranc<\/em>e. — Acts 2:1-4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the first instance of anyone receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire. Let us dissect what happened, to start with they which were one hundred and twenty that included the apostles and other disciple were in one place and one accord. On the day of Pentecost following the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ suddenly there came a sound from heaven filling the house were they were sitting. The whole house was brought into the spirit and the spirit realm. Suddenly there appeared cloven or divided tongues of fire that sat upon each of them. Each one was clothe and filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance. It was the activation of their spirit men into the spiritual realm. The baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire is a clothing upon of power from on high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b49\u00a0And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be\u00a0endued\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>with power from on high.<\/em><\/strong> — Luke 24:49<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b8\u00a0But\u00a0ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:<\/strong>\u00a0and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in\u00a0Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.<\/em> — Acts 1:8<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

37\u00a0In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me,\u00a0and drink.<\/em> 38\u00a0He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.<\/em> 39\u00a0(But this spake\u00a0he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given ;because that Jesus\u00a0 was not yet glorified.<\/strong>)<\/em> — John 7:37-39<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bThe word “endued” is the Greek word enduo which means put on or clothed with or clothed in. The Holy Spirit comes upon us to clothe us with power and fill us with living water. The Holy Spirit is not only a person but He is also a presence and atmosphere. He filled the whole house that they were sitting in. The Holy Spirit filled the house and then the saints. He came in a powerful presence and atmosphere and then filled each person. Besides clothing them with His person and His presence and His power, the Holy Spirit gave them a supernatural utterance.\u00a0They spoke in unknown tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

44\u00a0While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.<\/em> 45\u00a0And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the\u00a0Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.<\/em> 46\u00a0For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God<\/strong>. Then answered Peter,<\/em> 47\u00a0Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?<\/em> 48\u00a0And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.<\/em> — Acts 10:44-48<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to\u00a0Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,<\/em> 2\u00a0He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so\u00a0much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.<\/em> 3\u00a0And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.<\/em> 4\u00a0Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should\u00a0believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.<\/em> 5\u00a0When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.<\/em> 6\u00a0And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and\u00a0they spake with tongues, and\u00a0prophesied.<\/strong><\/em> — Acts 19:1-6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bTongues: The Supernatural Prayer Language<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

20\u00a0But ye, beloved,\u00a0building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,<\/strong><\/em> 21\u00a0Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.<\/em> — Jude 1:20-21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\u00a0He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself;<\/strong>\u00a0but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.<\/em> — 1 Corinthians 14:4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

14\u00a0For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth,<\/strong>\u00a0but my understanding is unfruitful.<\/em> 15\u00a0What is it then?\u00a0I will pray with the spirit,\u00a0<\/strong>and I will pray with the understanding also:\u00a0I will sing with the spirit,<\/strong>\u00a0and I will\u00a0sing with the understanding also.<\/em> — 1 Corinthians 14:14-15<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Apostle Paul said if I pray in an unknown tongue my spirit prays. The word “understanding” is the Greek word nous which was the Greek word for mind. Paul wrote we can pray with our spirit or with our mind. To pray in tongues is to pray with the spirit. It is the way to build up the spirit in the Holy Spirit. He that speaks in tongues edifies that is builds up himself. Tongues builds up the faith in the spirit. Speaking in tonques does several things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
